Hoagland tosses perfect game for Bluejays

Although he is just a sophomore, Ethan Hoagland of the PORTA-AC Central baseball team is quickly making his name known, having tossed a perfect game last Monday at home against Midwest Central. The Jays won 13 to 0 in five innings and Hoagland did not allow a hit or a walk, struck out four and the PORTA-AC defense did not commit an error.

For the first time since 2011 a Beardstown High School Track and Field record has been broken. Congratulations go out to Diana Huerta who broke the school record in the triple jump with a leap of 34'7.5"at the Chuck Danner Invite last Saturday.

PORTA-AC Central Track Report

The PORTA-AC Central Track team participated in two meets last week with both the boys’ and girls’ teams placing second out of five teams at Williamsville last Tuesday.

Tough sledding for Lady Tiger Soccer

An inability to put the ball in the goal has led to a tough stretch for the Beardstown High School girls’ soccer team. The Lady Tigers went 0-3-1 last week to fall to 1-7-1 on the season.

Virginia-Triopia Track results

Both the Virginia-Triopia High School and Junior High School track teams had two meets last week with both junior high events getting cut short due to the weather. The high school teams placed seventh out of seven teams at both the girls’ and boys’ meet last Tuesday at Rushville with the girls taking third and the boys placing seventh out of ten teams on Wednesday at Pittsfield.
