Ashland Board moves to purchase trees, building supplies for James Park

The Ashland village board approved two purchases at last week’s meeting for trees and roofing supplies for the pavilions in James Park. The tree purchase will be for six trees from Renee Jokisch at a cost of $2,200. The species of trees mentioned for purchasing were sugar and red maples.

Virginia honors Veterans during school assembling

Students, staff, and community members of Virginia were able to enjoy a Veteran’s day assembly at the high school on Friday, November 10th.  During the assembly students from the local FFA chapter were the honor guard in charge of raising the flag.  Select students in 6-12 had speaking roles where they gave a short presentation on the history of the major branches.  The elementary students lead the school in the “National Anthem” and “America the Beautiful.”

Senate Resolution adopted in memory of Roy Roberts 

Illinois State Senator Jil Tracy requested a Senate Resolution in memory of Roy Roberts  that was adopted on October 26, 2023 and will remain a permanent part of the record of the 103rd Illinois General Assembly. Tracy contacted Roberts’ daughter, Ann Chelette, Beardstown, regarding the resolution.
