Virginia FFA member first to receive American Degree since 1928

Emma Lyons, Virginia High School graduate of the Class of 2024, accomplished being the second student in the school’s history to receive the American FFA degree for her Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) and outstanding FFA Membership. The last American degree awarded to a Virginia High School student was Charles Crum in 1928.

A-C board mulls reorganization

The A-C Central Board continued its discussion of reorganization options at last week’s meeting of the village board. Several options were discussed including arrangements with districts other than PORTA as part of their brainstorming of the issue.

A-C Central School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 17 at the Board Conference Room, Unit Office, 501 W. Buchanan Street, Ashland.

Every week the BHS Cheerleaders will be showcasing the "Cheerleader of the week"! This is based on the entire week including practices and games and is decided on by the coaches. This helps recognize the hard work on and off the sidelines.

Lady Tiger Softball stays unbeaten

Two more blowout victories last week has pushed the season record to 11-0 for the Beardstown Junior High School softball team. On the road last Tuesday, the Lady Tigers smashed West Prairie 17 to 0.

Six-game week for Lady Indian Softball

It was a busy week for the Meredosia-Chambersburg-Triopia-Virginia Junior High School Softball team with games every day except Friday and two games on Saturday for a total of six contests. The Lady Indians went 4-2 to improve their season record to 8-4-1.

Busy week for Virginia Baseball

It was a typically busy week in the short junior high baseball season for the Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia Redbird with six games on the docket. The “A” team went 1-2-1 while the “B” team won a pair of games at the Brown County Cluster on Saturday.

A-C Central/PORTA Baseball report

It was a hectic and tough week for the A-C Central-PORTA Junior High School baseball team. A-C Yellow, the “A” team, went 1-3 while AC Black, the “B” team, went 1-2-1 on the week.
