William Franklin “Frank” Cline, 82, of rural Pleasant Plains, died Saturday, June 25, 2022, at his home.
He was born Oct. 15, 1939, in Ashland, the son of George Eugene and Lola Alberta Pettit Cline. He married Patricia G. “Patt” Conkey on Nov. 28, 1958, in Pleasant Plains, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 2008.
He is survived by four children, Janet (Scott) Voss of rural Pleasant Plains, Franklin (Becky) Cline of Jacksonville, Karen Cline of rural Pleasant Plains (companion, Art Holtman of Bath) and Robert (April) Cline of Timewell; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Stephanie) Bennett, Joshua (Brandi) Bennett, Garrett (Callie Grace) Cline, Logan Cline, Ashley Cline (fiancé, Austin Roughton), Morgan (John) Schone and Adam (Magan) Dobson; and eight great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Jakoby, Brayden and Brylin Bennett, Teagan Cline, and Lillian, Lydia and Lorelei Dobson, with two more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one sister and two brothers, Helen Marie Braker, Fred I. Cline and James Robert Cline.
Mr. Cline was a 1957 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. He ran Cline’s 66 Service Station in Virginia from 1960 to 1980. In 1980, he moved back to the family farm and actively farmed until his retirement in 2005, and then remained on the farm. He served on the board of Ashland Farmers Elevator/RPA for many years. Frank had an extensive toy tractor collection and also exhibited his Oliver 70 tractors at various shows around the area. He was a genealogy buff and was an avid gardener for many years.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
