Virginia welcomes new police chief

Ron Boris made his debut as Virginia’s new police chief at Monday evening’s city council session.
“I’m very honored to be here,” Boris told the council.
“We’re happy to have you,” Mayor Steve Sudbrink responded.
An 18-year law enforcement veteran, Boris, 41, has served as police chief for Benedictine University in Springfield for the past nine years. He succeeds Tom Osmer, who served as Virginia’s police chief for 33 years. Osmer retired on Dec. 31.
