Velma Nash, 80, Beardstown, died Sunday, October 17, 2021 at her home.

She was born January 30, 1941 in Beardstown, the daughter of Perry and Nellie Travis Self. She married Gilbert Nash on May 22, 1964 in Beardstown and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2018.

She is survived by her children, Jeanie Cluney of Arenzville, Ron Nash of Beardstown, Lori Gustafson of Mt. Vernon, LeRoy Nash of Jacksonville, Dennis Nash Wardell of Macomb and Denise Nash Curless of Brooklyn; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Harlen Self; one sister, Imogene Burnett; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Nash; and siblings, Lawrence Self, Ruby Smith, Cathrine Carpenter, Anna Mae Surratt and Robert Self.

Mrs. Nash was previously employed at Cass County Mental Health as a DT trainer, then worked for various members of the community beautifying their lawns. Velma was of the Christian faith and enjoyed riding her bike, playing Bingo and watching John Wayne westerns. Most of all, Velma will be remembered for her big heart and willingness to help others.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Sager Funeral Home with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.sagerfuneralhome.com.
