Living with the New Madrid earthquakes

    My friend Robert Gramann graduated from Beardstown High School in 1940. Robert had the nickname of “Skelt.” He probably didn’t weigh 110 pounds, even with clothes and boots on. So, he was never a great athlete. However, Robert was the president of his class each of his four years in high school. I don’t know if anyone else ever had that honor, but “Skelt” was a friend to everyone. Although he couldn’t be on the football or basketball team, Robert was always the team manager.
