The Old Glenn House
One of the readers of my column is Marilyn Overgard who lives in Elburn, Ill. This fall Marilyn was in Beardstown and spent time looking up different addresses where her relatives had lived many years ago. She sent me a letter saying that six of the eight houses have since been torn down and the two still standing were so covered over with aluminum siding that they didn’t look anything like the houses she remembered.
Marilyn is a cousin of Eleanor Plattner Cosner, who lives on a farm along the highway this side of Ashland. When talking with Christine about this, she told me that Eleanor’s parents, Maurice and MaryCelia Plattner, used to live next door to them on the Chandlerville Road, in the home where Bill Farmer’s family used to live. Christine remembers that when she was six or seven years old, Elizabeth Brannan, another relative of the Plattners, would be visiting them. Christine would be asked to come over to play with Elizabeth.
