New pool opens in Beardstown – 65 years ago

Saturday was the first day that the new Park District Sudbrink Water Park Swimming Pool was open in Beardstown. What a wonderful day with temperatures in the 90’s. I couldn’t go, but our children, Chris and Don, both were in town for their alumni meetings, and both went out to see the pool. Their report about the pool was that they were very much impressed seeing undoubtedly the most modern swimming pool in any city in Illinois.

Thanks go to the park directors, Steve Megginson and Jason Brockschmidt, who with the support of their Park Board have spent many hours and even years in making this finally become possible. There were close to 300 paid admissions on that first afternoon, and I will tell you now, regardless of your age, you should drive out to the park to see all the features and the beauty of this new swimming pool; you will be amazed. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref=""><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
