Claire: Roy’s girl Friday and world traveler

It was two and a half years ago that my arthritis affected my hands and I couldn’t type on the computer. Christine suggested that I see if there would be an I.S.U. student who would want to type for me to make extra money. That was when we met Claire, and we both loved her like she was part of the family. She was especially a bit of sunshine this past year since Christine’s passing.

Claire is different, the most pleasant, exciting, and adventuresome person I have ever known. She not only worked for me, but on Saturdays and Sundays she was the janitor at the new 4-story Normal City Hall. That was a job other students wouldn’t care to give up their weekends for, even for the $208 pay. She would come to help me for two hours, two or three times each week. She would type letters for me, type my weekly column, and type pages in a book I would like to complete before my D-day. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref="http://etypeservices.com/Cass%20County%20Star%20GazetteID497/"><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
