Virginia-Triopia-Meredosia Track Team is solid

Good numbers and good talent have the Virginia-Triopia-Meredosia track coaches excited about this coming year. Girls Coach Megan Werner, boys Coach Sam Black and Assistant Coach Abbie Link have a great mix of athletes at their disposal this year.

Boy Scout Troop 125

Over the first few months of 2024, two members of Troop 125 have traveled to Jacksonville to appear before their respective boards of review to be evaluated to determine whether or not they would receive the rank of Eagle Scout. Troop 125 is elated to report that Connor DeFord (Chandlerville) passed his Board of Review on January 17 and Evan Bell (Virginia) passed his Board of Review on March 6.

Trojans drop Warriors

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team picked up a tight win over the Hardin Calhoun Warriors last week before falling to West Central and to East Dubuque. The Trojans record moves to 1-2 on the season.

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Softball Team played in two, ten-run rule shortened five inning games last week, losing to Hardin-Calhoun 10 to 0 and beating Jacksonville High School 12 to 2.  The Lady Trojans are now 2-2 on the young season.

The Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia High School Track Team opened their season on the road last week at Beardstown with a five-team, boys only meet.  Although the Redbirds placed fifth as a team, they did have several promising individual finishes. Brady Seymour placed third in the shot put, fourth in the 110 hurdles and tied for fifth with Jack Parlier in the high jump. Parlier added a seven

Virginia Community BBQ set for March 23

Virginia’s Annual Community BBQ featuring slow smoked pulled pork is a sure sign of spring that will make its appearance this Saturday, March 23.

Presented by the members of the Virginia Masonic Lodge, the event will be held at St. Luke Hall, 170 N. Main St., from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature the Masonic Lodge’s secret recipe slow-smoked pulled pork plus all the “fixins.”

Following a tough loss to Illini West on the road to open the season, the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia softball team picked up a nice win over an always tough Havana team at their place.

Trojan Baseball Results

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team had a busy first week, taking advantage of the weather to play three games, winning one and losing two in the process.  They lost their opener on the road at Illini West, beat Camp Point in a good game at home, then lost to Peoria Heights in a close one at home.

Trojans Earn WIVC Honors

Congratulations go out to several Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia basketball players for being named All-Conference in the Western Illinois Valley Conference.  

For the boys, junior Caleb Carpenter and senior K.J. Beck were named WIVC Second Team All-Conference. Named Second Team WIVC All-Conference for the girls were sophomores Mylee Tracy and Lucie Dion and junior Addison Rohn.
