Virginia board discusses early graduation

Virginia School Board discussed the possibility of early graduation for its students at its meeting Monday night.

This matter was brought up at the previous board meeting by a parent and placed on the agenda for this month for discussion. Some of the issues the members discussed were attending prom and the senior trip, filing an application with the school board notifying them of the student’s desire to graduate early, having the student present the application to the board in person, and what time frame would this need to happen in.

Four Trojans named All-Conference -WIVC Baseball and Softball Awards

Four Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia athletes were recently named All-Conference performers by the Western Illinois Valley Conference.

Mylee Tracy and Addison Rohn were both named to the ten-person First Team All-Conference softball team. The Lady Trojan’s Lucie Dion was one of ten named Second Team All-Conference. All three girls are juniors.

For the boys, sophomore Grant Fricke was named to the nine-person Second Team All-Conference baseball squad.

Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia’s Mylee Tracy and coach Megan Werner are pictured at the IHSA State Track and Field Finals. Tracy, also a standout player on the Trojan softball team, competed in the 200 and 400 meters at State.

Mylee Tracy at girls state

The track and field season ended for the Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia track teams last week.

For the girls, Mylee Tracy represented Redbird nation very well at the Class 1A IHSA State Track and Field Championships. Tracy qualified in both the 200 meters and the 400 meters and traveled to Charleston for preliminaries last Thursday.  The top nine finishers in the prelims advanced to the finals and ninth place came in with a time of 26.12 in the 200 meters.  Tracy’s time of 26.6 was good enough for 15th place. In the 400 meters, ninth place had a time of 59.24. Mylee’s time of 103.78 put her in 24th place.

One busy lady! Mylee Tracy set the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Softball single season strikeout record one day after competing in the 200 and 400 meters at the IHSA State Track Meet.

Ducks stun Lady Trojans

It looked like the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia softball team had Havana right where they wanted them and would get sweet revenge for a post season loss to the Ducks last year. Unfortunately, a five-run seventh inning by the Ducks stunned the Trojans and gave Havana a 5 to 2 Regional Championship victory last Friday night.
