Redbirds Take Down Tigers – Virginia Junior High Boys Action

   It was a tough go for the Virginia Junior High boys’ basketball team with both the seventh and eighth grade going 1-3 in a busy last week. There was some consolation in the fact that the victory did come over Cass County rival Beardstown on Tuesday.

Three area golfers make sectionals

PORTA-AC Central senior golfer Brady Kinney has qualified for the IHSA Class 1A State Finals by shooting an 82 in the Auburn Sectional.  Kinney claimed the Auburn Sectional’s final individual spot and will compete in the finals starting on Friday, October 6 at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington.  

Virginia-Triopia Senior Will Bateman is shown with his first place medal for winning the 400 meter dash at the Beardstown Sectional Meet.  Bateman and several other area athletes will compete at the boys state finals this weekend.
