
Trojans place fourth at New Berlin
The Triopia Trojan boys’ basketball team went 1-3 in the opening week of the season, losing three close games, to claim Fourth Place in the Gene Bergschneider Turkey Tournament in New Berlin.

The Triopia Trojan boys’ basketball team went 1-3 in the opening week of the season, losing three close games, to claim Fourth Place in the Gene Bergschneider Turkey Tournament in New Berlin.

Although seniors K.J. Beck, Austin Strubbe and Evan Bell will be key contributors, the 2023-2024 edition of the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia varsity boys basketball team is counting heavily on a talented collection of juniors and sophomores.

It was off to Scott County for four days of basketball in the Junior High School version of the Winchester Tournament for the Triopia Trojan junior high boys’ basketball team last week. When the smoke cleared, both the seventh and the eighth-grade teams had won two games and lost two games. Both teams handled Carrollton and North Greene rather easily and lost to West Central and Brown County with the seventh graders dropping two thrillers.

The Triopia Junior High boys’ basketball program picked up three wins out of four games last week to open their season the right way. Things started in ultra-exciting fashion as the 7th grade squad pulled out a one-point victory on the road at South County, snake biting the Vipers 27 to 26. Howe poured through 18 points to lead the Trojans to the win. Werries added six points and Sager chipped in with three.

The Triopia-Virginia-Meredosia football team fell to 1-1 with a Saturday night loss to Carrollton. The Hawks scored on a 58-yard run in the first quarter and a three-yard run in the fourth and their defense did the rest in the 14-0 win over the Trojans in Carrollton.
