The Beardstown High School track team won first place in a boys only home meet last week featuring five teams.
The Tigers 106 points easily outdistanced second place Havana’s 87 points and third place Brown County’s 84 points. Jacksonville Routt finished fourth and Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia came in fifth.
The Beardstown Middle School Track team hit the road to Canton for their first meet of the season competing in a triangular with the host Little Giants and the Ducks of Havana. The Tigers had a handful of first place finishers and a slew of medal winners.
The Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia High School Track Team opened their season on the road last week at Beardstown with a five-team, boys only meet. Although the Redbirds placed fifth as a team, they did have several promising individual finishes. The Beardstown High School Track teams opened their season last Thursday, March 14, by competing at the Spoon River Indoor Invitational at Illinois College. The Tigers got off to a great start in both running and field events. Several athletes brought home their first medals of the season, while others set new personal records. Some athletes went to the starting line for the first time.
