Lady Tigers top Rebels

The Beardstown Lady Tiger basketball team split a pair of games last week, winning on the road at South Fulton then falling at home to Camp Point Central-Southeastern as part of a girl-boy double header against the Panthers.  Beardstown now has a record of 8-5 on the season.

Lady Tigers thrash Spartans

The Spartans were absolutely no match for the Tigers last week. On the other hand, the Warriors were ready to come out and play proved too much for the big cats on the hardwood.  In other words, the Beardstown Lady Tigers blasted both the Bushnell Prairie City and North Greene Spartans last week, putting running clocks on both, while the Athens Warriors came to town and knocked off Beardstown in an exciting game.

Lady Tigers want to change gears

Normally only having one returning starter and having to replace an inside player who averaged double figures in points and rebounds and two solid guards would not lead to high hopes for an upcoming season.

The Beardstown Lady Tiger basketball team and head coach Jimmy Maltby find themselves in just that situation, but a dazzling array of newcomers and young talent has the eighth-year head mentor bursting with excitement about this year’s prospects. Last year’s team went 9-22

The Tigers lost to tourney host Macomb by scores of 25-5, 25-9.  The Bombers would knock off Monmouth-Roseville in the next round then take down defending state champion Quincy Notre Dame to claim the regional crown.

Congratulations to the Tigers’ (L/R) Alora Logan, Brandy Mendoza, and Shelby Goodrich for making the All-Tournament Team at the Beardstown Volleyball Tournament.

Lady Tigers take 2nd in Beardstown Tourney

It looks like a little home cooking was just what the Beardstown High School volleyball team needed. Following a stretch where 9 out of 10 games were on the road and the Lady Tigers went just 2-8,
