The Beardstown Lady Tigers picked up a conference win and a nice momentum builder heading to regionals with a 46 to 43 road win last Thursday over the Mendon Unity Mustangs. The Mustangs were 15-11 prior to the loss and had beaten the Tigers 43 to 27 on November 18 and 42 to 29 in the Lady Tiger Classic. Beardstown opened the week with a tough 55 to 54 conference road loss to Liberty on Tuesday.
The PORTA-AC Central Lady Bluejays moved to 26-1 on the season with two more dominating conference wins over Williamsville and Illini Central last week. The Jays received a first round regional bye and will play the winner of Waverly and Williamsville at the Riverton Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12.
The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Lady Trojans honored lone senior Lilly Pate prior to last Monday’s game then sent her off in style with a 31 to 22 win over Pleasant Hill. Triopia jumped out to a 12 to 2 lead after one quarter but failed to score in the second as the Wolves cut the deficit to 12 to 6. A six all third period made it 18 to 12 going into the last quarter and the Trojans held on for the victory hitting 11 out of 12 free throws on the evening. Lucie Dion and Addison Rohn each had eight points for Triopia. Mylee Tracy added six, Pate had five and Gabby Myers knocked down four.
The Beardstown Lady Tigers lost their final two games of the Carrollton Tournament, falling short of a chance at fifth place in the tough fifteen team field.
