Beardstown updates various building codes 

Beardstown City Council met Tuesday, January 16th, to discuss amending various building codes.

Several members of the council questioned the section on mobile homes and wished to exclude it until they had discussed it further. They voted on the rest of the ordinance excluding section 7. All council members voted in favor except Dawn Seward, who voted against it.

Possible new building, zoning ordinance in the works

The Beardstown City Council met for a New Year’s meeting on January 2, 2004 to discuss the new Building and Zoning Ordinance that John Schnepper has been working on for several months now. Schnepper asked the council to really take a good look at it once the city attorney, Jeff Soltermann, returned it to the council. Virginia Council holds brief meeting

Virginia City Council met Monday night and held a very brief meeting.

The 2nd reading of a proposal to impose a franchise fee for Casscomm unanimously failed.

Also, a 60-month lease agreement with Watts Copy was approved for a Sharp copier.

No Tax Levy increase for Beardstown

At the Beardstown City Council meeting held December 5th, Petie Ruch, City Clerk, discussed the 2023 Tax Levy. 

He stated that the bottom line for the tax levy is there will be no increase. The amount will stay the same as it was last year. There were increases in some areas and decreases in others resulting in no big changes overall.
