Chapin seeking water superintendent

The Village of Chapin is accepting applications for water superintendent as the current superintendent  has resigned for personal reasons.

Village of Chapin to begin spring cleanup 

The Village of Chapin is beginning Spring Cleanup. Trustees recently heard a complaint from a resident concerning unkept properties within the village. The properties are in violation of ordinance in regards to abandoned vehicles and debris in view of the public. The properties had been made aware of the violations in the past and the police department will visit with them again.  

Chapin receives two grants

The Village of Chapin will be receiving two grants totalling $200,000, this to make OSHA required repairs to the Water Tower. Half the monies are state funds while the other half non-state funds. Previous estimates have the needed work to be approximately $265,000. State Senator Jill Tracy was instrumental in assisting with the grants.

Chapin to receive money for damages

Monies have been received from Chapin’s Village Insurance carrier for the damage received from the Spring storm. The money, $53,000, was received to cover damages to the Legion building, the exterior stage, Firehouse and Water Department pump house. This was reported during a recent meeting of the village board.

In the utilities/streets report: Oil and chip work has began on village streets.
