Lady Jays soar to 24-1

Two more wins at home last week have the PORTA-AC Central Lady Bluejays flying high with a 24-1 season record. A tough conference win over Stanford Olympia to start the week gives the Jays a 4-0 Sangamo Conference mark. PORTA-AC closed the week with another dominating win, this one over Bloomington Central Catholic.

Sometime in early 1950’s, the old brick community building in Chandlerville became the water department office in the front and fire department in the back. Then once the new village hall was built, the fire department took over the whole building. And that has been home ever since.

PORTA/AC Central boys’ and girls’ hoops roundup

The beat goes on for the PORTA/A-C Central Lady Bluejays as they won their only game last week to improve to 23-1 on the year.  The boys’ team meanwhile split a pair of home games to remain over .500 on the season at 11-9.

PORTA/A-C Boys take fifth at WIT

PORTA-A-C Central went 3-1 in the 101st Winchester Invitational Tournament to secure a Fifth-Place finish. After their opening round win over North Greene, the Bluejays faced off against eventual tourney champion West Central and fell 69 to 46. A 43 to 35 win over Triopia followed. PORTA-AC won the 5th Place game over Hardin Calhoun by a score of 54 to 47.

Following their only loss of the season over the Christmas holiday, the PORTA-AC Central Lady Bluejays are right back on track with a four-game winning streak including three last week.  All four of the wins were by over twenty points.  Coach Eric Kesler has the Jays at 18-1 on the season.

Bluejays in winner’s bracket at WIT

The PORTA-AC Central Bluejays have won their last two games including an opening round win in the 101st Winchester Invitational Tournament.  Prior to last week, the Jays had dropped three out of four games.  They lost 53 to 33 in the first game of the Williamsville Holiday Tournament, then knocked off Roanoke Benson 54 to 40 in round two before their tourney ended at the hands of Tremont 66 to 58.  A 46 to 29 loss to highly ranked Illini Bluffs followed before the Jays would right the ship.  

A-C Central accepts furniture donation

The A-C Central School Board voted to accept a donation of furniture at last week’s board meeting. The furniture, valued in total at about $15,000, is from Registered Agents Solutions, Inc. It includes teachers’ desks, tables, filing cabinets, and L-shaped desks.

Lady Bluejays are on fire

The PORTA-AC Central Lady Bluejays stayed red hot and moved to 14-0 on the season with three wins in the Riverton Christmas Tournament last week.  PORTA-AC destroyed Litchfield and Pana then defeated North Mac by twelve points, their closest game in a month.

Lady Jays are soaring – PORTA-AC Ranked #3 in State

Two more dominating wins by the PORTA-AC Central Lady Bluejays has pushed their season record to 11-0 and landed them a # 3 ranking in the latest IHSA Class 2A poll.  The Jays held both Midwest Central-Delavan and Auburn to less than 20 points and shut them out for an entire quarter in run-away wins last week.

Beardstown’s Rylan Alhorn and PORTA-AC’s Ethan Mahoney tip it off to start the battle between the Tigers and the Bluejays.

Bluejays fall to Tigers and Vipers

PORTA-AC Central’s boys varsity basketball team had a rough go of it last week, losing both games on the schedule.

On Tuesday, the Bluejays fell to Cass County rival Beardstown at home in a closely contested game, 53 to 45.  The very next day the Jays had to travel to Franklin and take on South County, falling 45 to 30 to the Vipers.
