The Beardstown City Council met for a short meeting Tuesday night to approve the bid from GTSI for Kenwood Multi-Band Radio system for the Beardstown Police Department in the amount of $157,058 after the trade-in of five radios on hand. All members present voted yes.
Both the Beardstown High School and Middle School Cross Country Teams competed in the Rochester Invite on Saturday, September 6 and had a great day of running.
Five good seasons ended a little earlier than hoped for all the area junior high softball and baseball teams as they all lost earlier than expected in postseason play.

The AC Central Junior High School softball team only won one of three games last week, defeating just the Lincoln Magnet Leopards by a score of 9 to 7. The Lady Knights lost to West Central 13 to 3 and to the Springfield Catholic Cyclones 13 to 1.
This week it was only the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia High School football team who picked up a victory among the area football teams.
