Busy day for Beardstown Police

Beardstown Police were kept busy Monday afternoon, April 15, following two crashes an hour apart. The first one occured at 12:04 at 901 Canal Street when a vehicle driven by Alexandre Belizaire, 1013 Canal, crashed into a garage. He was driving a 2020 Toyota. The residence and garage was occupied by Eduardo Herrera-Lopez and the property was owned by Adan Hernandez, 1412 Clay Street. According to reports, the vehicle had to be extricated from the garage. At 1:10 p.m., a semi-tractor trailer driven by Nelson Kaupp of Gridley, struck a power line that was caught between the cab and trailer. Kaupp remained in the vehicle until police arrived who advised that he stay in the vehicle until Ameren was contacted and could assess the situation. The power line was pulled out of a house at 600 W. 13th Street. Once Ameren arrived, they secured the line and removed it. Kaupp said he was trying to make a delivery on Jackson Street. He was advised the area was not a truck route in the city of Beardstown and told he needed to figure a different route to make deliveries in that area.
