Tough to do community service when it seems unappreciated

During the public comment period of the Beardstown City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 16th, Jack Fearneyhough, a Kiwanis member and community service volunteer, approached the council, both angered and confused, as to why no action was taken in the event that occurred earlier this year where a driver drove into the Kiwanis Park damaging the chain-link fence and playground equipment.

Save-A-Lot earns Niemann Award

The Beardstown Save-A-Lot was recently awarded a trophy for Best Store Brand Presentation by parent company Niemann Foods Inc. according to Regional Director of Operations Owen Miller.

Nadine Miandabu, 44, Beardstown, was cited for speeding and disobeying stop sign. on June 30.

Epilito Guadarrama, 22, Beardstown, was given a written warning for obstructed windows and a verbal warning for an obstructed license plate on July 1.

Steven Wessel, 68, Beardstown, was cited for expired registration and a written warning for speeding on July 3.

Augustana College

Augustana College announced more than 1,100 students were named to the Dean’s List for the 2023-2024 spring semester. Students who have earned this academic honor have maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a four-point scale for courses taken during the term.
