Tough losses for Trojan Baseball

It was a rough week for the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team as they suffered four losses against just one win.  Two of the losses were by one run, they were allowed just one hit in the third loss and had only two hits in the last one.

Redbird Jr High Track

The Virginia-Triopia Junior High Track teams had a very successful week placing first in the girls’ seventh grade, eighth grade and combined and first in the boys eighth grade and combined and second in seventh grade at Camp Point on Monday. On Tuesday, at the St. Agnes meet they placed second in all but the boys combined where they placed third.

Trojans beat Griggsville-Perry

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team started last week with a home win over Griggsville-Perry then dropped both ends of a Saturday doubleheader at home to Greenfield-Northwestern and PORTA-AC Central. The Trojans are now 3-8 on the season.

Lady Trojans low on numbers, not expectations

Despite having just thirteen players and one senior Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Head Softball Coach Ty Gebhardt likes what he has going on with this year’s Lady Trojan squad. Along with Assistant Coaches Kristy Gebhardt, Dean Werries, and Jeff Bennett, he will have to replace some very talented players from last year’s 15-12 team, but he feels as though he has plenty of talent to do so.

Everyone is back for Trojans Baseball

Despite having no seniors, Head Coach Rich Thompson and Assistant Adam Brockhouse led last years Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team to an 11-15 record. With everyone returning, expectations are much higher this year.  Sophomore Grant Fricke did not play like a freshman last year, going 4-3 with a 1.85 ERA on the mound and hitting .398 with 17 RBI and 24 runs scored and will play a major role this year. Sophomore Cooper Parrish returns behind the plate after hitting .328 with 17 RBI, senior Austin Strubbe is back at third base and hit .279 with 22 RBI and 14 runs and Senior Evan Bell can play about

Virginia-Triopia-Meredosia Track Team is solid

Good numbers and good talent have the Virginia-Triopia-Meredosia track coaches excited about this coming year. Girls Coach Megan Werner, boys Coach Sam Black and Assistant Coach Abbie Link have a great mix of athletes at their disposal this year.

Trojans drop Warriors

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team picked up a tight win over the Hardin Calhoun Warriors last week before falling to West Central and to East Dubuque. The Trojans record moves to 1-2 on the season.

Lady Trojans stop Crimsons

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Softball Team played in two, ten-run rule shortened five inning games last week, losing to Hardin-Calhoun 10 to 0 and beating Jacksonville High School 12 to 2.  The Lady Trojans are now 2-2 on the young season.

The Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia High School Track Team opened their season on the road last week at Beardstown with a five-team, boys only meet.  Although the Redbirds placed fifth as a team, they did have several promising individual finishes. Brady Seymour placed third in the shot put, fourth in the 110 hurdles and tied for fifth with Jack Parlier in the high jump. Parlier added a seven
