Mylee Tracy at girls state

The track and field season ended for the Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia track teams last week.

For the girls, Mylee Tracy represented Redbird nation very well at the Class 1A IHSA State Track and Field Championships. Tracy qualified in both the 200 meters and the 400 meters and traveled to Charleston for preliminaries last Thursday.  The top nine finishers in the prelims advanced to the finals and ninth place came in with a time of 26.12 in the 200 meters.  Tracy’s time of 26.6 was good enough for 15th place. In the 400 meters, ninth place had a time of 59.24. Mylee’s time of 103.78 put her in 24th place.

One busy lady! Mylee Tracy set the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Softball single season strikeout record one day after competing in the 200 and 400 meters at the IHSA State Track Meet.

Ducks stun Lady Trojans

It looked like the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia softball team had Havana right where they wanted them and would get sweet revenge for a post season loss to the Ducks last year. Unfortunately, a five-run seventh inning by the Ducks stunned the Trojans and gave Havana a 5 to 2 Regional Championship victory last Friday night.

A young Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia softball team played their way into the WIVC Tournament this year, falling just short of a trip to the championship game. The Lady Trojans beat Greenfield-Northwestern 12 to 6 in the opening round then lost to Carrollton 5 to 1 in the semifinals. The big blue wrapped up their regular season with a 13-8 record after losing to Payson in their finale.
