Lady Tigers and Lady Trojans lose

It was a light load for both the Beardstown Lady Tiger and the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Lady Trojan basketball teams with just one game each last week.  Beardstown hosted North Fulton on Monday.  Triopia, who went on the road to Carrollton on Monday, was scheduled to play Calhoun on Thursday but the contest was postponed.

Trojan Boys Win Two

They were two starkly different contests last week but they both resulted in victory for the Triopia Trojan basketball team.  On Tuesday, the Trojans turned on their afterburners and raced to a 72 to 41 win over the Payson-Seymour Indians on the road.  At home on Friday, the Trojans ground out a low scoring 41 to 30 victory over the Carrollton Hawks.

Trojans crush Rockets

It was a good week for the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Trojan high school boys’ basketball team as they completely dismantled the Rushville-Industry Rockets on the road to start the week, winning 61 to 35.  And although some say there is no such thing as a good loss, Coach Rich Thompson had to be happy with his team’s performance, except their free throw shooting, in a close 36 to 29 loss to a highly regarded Camp Point team at home on Saturday.

Three Wins for Lady Trojan hoops

One week and three games into the season and the Triopia-Virginia Lady Trojan basketball team already has more than half as many wins as they had all last season. A 3-0 start means the Trojans need only two more wins to match last season’s total of five. Triopia picked up a road win over Beardstown to start the year then added two more victories in the Waverly Tournament over South County and Carrollton.

Lady Trojans looking to rebound

Last year’s Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Lady Trojan varsity basketball team was a very young team with a first-year coach that struggled to a 5-22 finish (1-7 in the WIVC) in an injury plagued season.

In year two of Kelley Wessler’s regime, the Lady Trojans look to be much improved.  Although coach Wessl
