Two wins for Bluejay Baseball

The PORTA-AC Central Baseball Team got off the schneid after losing their first two games of the season, winning twice last week over Havana and Payson Seymour before falling to North Boone to move to 2-3 on the season.

Pure joy! The AC-Central 7th grade volleyball team reacts after winning the final point of the Sectional Championship game to punch their ticket to the State Tournament. The Lady Knights post season run would take them all the way to Second Place in the state of Illinois in Class 1A.

Lady Knights are State runner up

The AC-Central seventh grade volleyball team’s postseason march took them all the way to the State Championship game.  Only a junior high sports juggernaut, West Lincoln-Broadwell, prevented the Lady Knights from becoming state champs.  A second-place finish in the state of Illinois in Class 1A is quite an accomplishment and the future is obviously bright for this group of young ladies.

Congratulations to the AC Central 6th grade girls volleyball team on winning the Virginia Tournament held February 17th.

Three of the four Cass County seventh grade volleyball teams’ seasons ended last week in regional play.

They were scheduled to play in the regional semifinal on Tuesday, February 27 against fifth seeded Springfield St. Agnes. The AC Central eighth grade team is the four seed in the Calvary Regional and open play on Saturday, March 2 at 9:00 a.m. against Jacksonville Our Savior. If they win, they play the host team later in the day at approximately 12:00 p.m.

A-C joins rural school lobbying group

The A-C Central school board voted at last week’s meeting to join a lobbying group for rural schools. The Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools was formed in 1987 to represent the interests of rural and small schools in government. There is a membership fee. The decision to join was at the instigation of Trustee Dan Cuba who raised the possibility at last month’s meeting.
