Tigers avenge early loss by downing Plains in regional championship 5-0

Recipe for winning a regional: Hand ball to Rick Dour and have him pitch a shutout. Send Will Robertson to the plate and hit a home run. Have team leading hitter Alec Taylor smack a two-run double.
That’s exactly what Coach Robin Lewis’s three-headed monster did — the O&B shut out Pleasant Plains Saturday at Ed Lewis Field to capture the Beardstown Class 2A Regional.
Dour brought his best “stuff” Saturday, hurling a complete seven-inning, 5-0 shutout over the highly regarded Cardinals. Dour threw just 75 pitches; 57 were for strikes in the five-hitter, in which he did not walk a batter, and struck out eight.
His battery mate gave him all the support he needed when he slammed his 10th home run of the season, a two-run blast that cleared the left field fence putting the O&B on top 2-0 in the top of the first and the Tigers never looked back. “With a 3-2 count I was just looking to put the ball in play, and just swung—wow, it went over the fence,” said Catcher Will Robertson.
“It’s been a long year, but a good one,” said Robin Lewis, the  head mentor of the Tigers. “This team has earned its record breaking season. A lot of up and downs, but all in all it was pretty darn satisfying.”
