League owners agree to open baseball season

    Money is at the heart of the return, sources said. Owners fearing  deep financial losses with fan-free stadiums have agreed for a plan that will allow a 50-50 revenue split with the players.
    The coronavirus-delayed season would start around the Fourth of July weekend in ballparks without fans, along with a plan that envisions expanding the designated hitter to the National League. Baseball owners gave the go-ahead this week to make a proposal to the player’s union that could lead to baseball for the 2020 season.
