Lady Trojans defeat West Central for Regional Title

Two evenly matched teams, as well it should be, battled it down to the wire before the Lady Trojans won the coveted regional crown on a “J” by senior Kamryn Portwood with 0:29 ticks left on the game clock.
In between, lots of up and downs for both teams. This was the first regional title for Coach Kayla Whiteside, coming in her fifth year at the helm of the Lady Blue.
The area’s two best “bigs” Annika Kaufmann (West Central) and Anna Burrus (Triopia) put on quite a show for the fans. Kaufmann poured through 31 points and Burrus 27, with Burrus corralling 23 rebounds for the winners.         But wait, I digress, Kamryn Portwood’s jumper from the right elbow was the game winner for the Lady Blue.
