Chris Tamas is new Illini Volleyball Coach

    Chris Tamas (pronounced Thomas), age 36,  is the 8th head coach for the Illinois VB program, taking over from Kevin Hamby who left to be the head man at Standford.
    Tamas is in his 9th year of coaching volley ball, including his last two years as the head assistant coach at Nebraska. Prior to that he spent two years at Cal Poly, two years at Minnesota, and two years at UC-Riverside.
    He is a 2003 graduate of University of Pacific with a degree in Sports Sciences. He was a four-year starter for the Tigers and a unanimous AVCA All-American first team selection and team MVP in 2003. He played four years on the U.S. Men’s National Team, helping lead the team to a bronze medal at the World Games.
