Ronnie Lee Shutts, 76, rural Virginia, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at his home.
He was born August 13, 1944 in Kansas City, MO the son of Albert and Mildred Hogdon Shutts. He married Carol Schroeder on November 10, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Shutts of Virginia; a son, Mark Shutts, with his first wife, Susan Mills, and a son, Nick Shutts and a daughter, Catherine (husband Derek) Mann, with his second wife, Patty Hibbeler; four grandchildren Abella, Laila, Elin, and Haley; and two stepsons Justin Savage of Virginia and Gary Savage of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ronnie graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1962. He joined the United States Marine Corp for six years and honorably served in Vietnam. He was a member of Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post #1239 and Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007. He worked communications for CIPS, later Ameren, and retired after 40 years. He enjoyed riding horses and rooting for the Chicago Cubs. He loved his daily routine of having a cold drink with his friends at the VFW and Elks Lodge.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 10 a.m.
