Ronald “Ron” Eugene Scherrer

    Ronald “Ron” Eugene Scherrer, 85, Quincy, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, August 1, 2021 at his home.
    He was born August 5, 1935, in Arenzville, to Joseph Charles and Virginia (Henry) Scherrer.
    Survivors include two children, Terry Scherrer (Teresa) of The Colony, TX and Tim Scherrer of Columbia, MO; five grandchildren, USAF Major Elizabeth Scherrer, PhD, Susan Scherrer, Teresa Scherrer, Jonathan Scherrer, and Brandon Gerrin; one great-grandchild, Kingston Scherrer; and his companion, Kay Hudson.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.
    He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958-1960.
    He graduated from Beardstown High School in 1953. He went on to be a salesman for Quincy Maid Potato Chips for 37 years. He was very dedicated to his job and never missed a day of work.
    He loved many sports, especially the MLB and NASCAR. He even ranked first in shot put during junior high. The TV was always tuned to either sports or history, unless it was Saturday night, which was reserved for watching Mollie B Polka Party. Ron was fiercely loyal to Ford and would never buy another type of vehicle. In his spare time, he enjoyed staying active, spending time with his friends, dancing, and delivering Meals on Wheels.
    He was an active member and usher at Union United Methodist Church.
    Friends and Family were invited to Ron’s Life Celebration at a visitation that was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, at the O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy.
    A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy. Pastor Kyle Frink and The Rev. Tim Woodard will officiate. Burial will follow at Beardstown City Cemetery in Beardstown.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Union United Methodist Church.
