Robert Lee Bowman, 88, of Beardstown died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.
He was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Beardstown, the son of James F. and Dortha Friday Bowman. He married Coriene Russell in 1952 and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2012.
He is survived by his son, Michael (wife Barbie) Bowman of Beardstown; four grandchildren, Sam and Jason Hicks and Ashley and Brandon Bowman; and eight great-grandchildren, Alyxandria Dusenbery, Sammie, Jacob, Zack, Wendy and Rebecca Hicks, Kenny Fryer and Harley Taber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter Sherry Rust, three sons Robert Lee Bowman Jr., and in infancy Ronald and Donald Bowman.
Robert attended Beardstown Schools. He served in the United States Army Medical Corp at Camp Chaffee in Arkansas and Fitsimmons Medical Center in Colorado. He worked construction and was a 50-year member of International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. Robert, along with Cecil Lauder, also worked as a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed deer hunting and trying his luck with scratch-off lottery tickets.
Private family services will be held with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
