Hornets causing a buzz in Ashland

Ashland Mayor Nancy Kyrouac mentioned at last week’s village board meeting that the village has had to deal with a pair of hornet’s nests recently. The first of these was at West Park and one resident had been stung.

Playoff hopes are alive for Trojan, Bluejay Football

The Triopia-Meredosia-Chambersburg-Virginia and the PORTA-AC Central High School football teams both kept their playoff hopes alive with huge week seven wins to push their records to 4-3, leaving both teams needing one win in their final two games to qualify for the postseason. The Trojans made a second quarter touchdown run from five yards out by Will Burton at the 1:34 mark hold up in beating Mendon Unity 6-0.

Fire destroys unoccupied home

An early morning fire completely destroyed an unoccupied home during the early morning hours Sunday, October 12 in Beardstown. The call came in at 12:53 a.m. The home was located at 406 East 5th Street.

Tiger Soccer falls to Crimsons

A very good Class 2A Jacksonville Crimson team came to Beardstown last Wednesday and knocked off the Beardstown High School soccer team by a score of 3 to 0. The Crimsons improved to 11-2-3 against a loaded schedule while Beardstown fell to 11-4-3 on the year.

Lady Trojans defeat Vipers & Tornadoes

The Triopia-Meredosia-Chambersburg-Virginia varsity volleyball team picked up two more wins to move to 16-6 on the season. The Lady Trojans beat South County 25-11, 25-23 and Griggsville-Perry 25-10, 25-7.
