LLCC to host Engineer in the Classroom for fifth graders

“Outlandish machines” designed by area fifth graders will be on display as Lincoln Land Community College hosts the 18th annual Springfield Area Engineer in the Classroom, a Rube Goldberg Showcase, on Saturday, March 1. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m.

A-C/PORTA co-op likely finished

The athletic co-op between A-C Central and PORTA School Districts will likely come to an end with the expiration of its current term in June. Long-running negotiations have failed to produce an agreement and a meeting between the two districts last month produced little progress.

A-C Central School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 at the Board Conference Room, 501 W. Buchanan Street, Ashland.

AADM Team competes in Normal.

The AADM Airborne Team attended the USTA National Team Trials meet at Horton Field House on ISU campus in Normal, IL on Feb. 15th & 16th. This meet was an open invitational meet, hosting 62 clubs.

Vipers slither past Trojans

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia boys’ basketball team lost their final two games of the regular season last week to finish the year with a 15-15 record, including 2-7 in the Western Illinois Valley Conference. Two close games saw the Trojans fall in a low scoring affair 40 to 33 to Griggsville-Perry and a dogfight with South County 58 to 55.
