Before the regularly scheduled March 17 School Board meeting, a special Public Hearing was held to accept public comments regarding the selling of bonds totaling $3 million for the purpose of “conforming its existing facilities that house students to the building code promulgated by the State Board of Education of the State of Illinois, by altering, reconstructing and repairing said facilities and having equipment purchased and installed therein.” The funds will be used for the first part of the Omni HVAC project that replaces the 1971 and 1981 systems, windows and tuckpointing at an estimated cost of $2.8 million. There was no public comment, and the special hearing was adjourned.

During the March 12 Chandlerville Village board meeting, Fire Chief Corey Simpson brought to the board’s attention that the current storm siren does not work without power leaving the town unprotected during a storm in which power has been knocked out. The estimate to replace the current siren with a new siren that works with deep cell batteries with installment included is $10,400.
