Triopia Baseball Falls to Hawks

The first conference game for the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball squad resulted in a loss, dropping the Trojans to 0-7 on the year. The big blue fell to Carrollton 10 to 2 last Thursday in their only game of the week as their offense continued to struggle.

Bluejay Baseball wins twice

A mighty fine season is shaping up for the PORTA-AC Central baseball team as two home wins over Class 3A teams last week pushed the Bluejays record to 7-2. Last Monday the Jays defeated Jacksonville 9 to 4 then last Thursday they took down Springfield Southeast 6 to 5 with a walk off win in the bottom of the seventh.

Tigers crush rival Rockets

It is tough to have a better week than winning two conference games and not losing but for the Beardstown baseball team, last week’s 2-0 record came with a little bit of whip cream on top. A 15 to 1 trouncing of arch-rival Rushville on the road last Monday was a tasty way to start for the Tigers who parlayed the momentum into a great 3 to 2 victory over Mendon Unity on Tuesday.

BHS girls host track meet

There was only one meet on the schedule for the Beardstown Track team with the Tigers hosting a girls only meet last Monday, taking third place out of eight teams. As usual, Diana Huerta had a big day winning the 100 meters, the 200 meters, the triple jump and placing second in the long jump.

Virginia-Triopia JH Track results

The Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia junior high track teams competed in two meets last week with the boys’ seventh grade taking fourth at PORTA and fifth in Beardstown and the boys’ eighth placing third in both meets. The girls’ seventh grade placed second at PORTA and third at Beardstown and the eighth grade finished second in PORTA and fifth in Beardstown.

The Chandlerville Fire Department will host Guns & Hoses 7.0, Saturday March 22 at Daughtry’s Pub, Chandlerville. Dinner will be from 5 p.m.

Mayor Tim Harris

Incumbent candidate Mayor Tim Harris has lived in Beardstown all his life. He graduated from Beardstown High School in 1975, is a widower and has three grandchildren, Chase, Logan, and Katie.
