Triopia suffers more losses

A very tough season continued last week for the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team with three more losses pushing their record to 0-13 on the year. The Trojans fell 10 to 1 to Brown County, 15 to 2 to Greenfield and 14 to 3 to West Central with all three games played at home.

Lady Bluejays top Crimsons

After two tough losses to rivals Athens and Pleasant Plains to start the week, the PORTA-AC Central Lady Bluejay softball team rebounded to get a 13 to 3 win over Jacksonville on the road. The Lady Jays season record is now 4-8.

Four wins for Lady Tigers

After suffering three losses last weekend in a rough Lady Tiger Showcase, the Beardstown High School Softball team rebounded big time this week, going 4-0 to push their season mark to 11-6. Beardstown got road wins over Rushville-Industry, Western and Augusta Southeastern and a home win over South Fulton.

As treasurer for the Beardstown Ministerial Association, I am usually the point person for compassionate ministry assistance. The needs come in a variety of forms but one of the most difficult is shelter for homeless people.

Beardstown City Clerk Ruch retires after 24 years

Sometime in May or June of 1985 a young man named Brian “Petie” Ruch began his employment with the City of Beardstown in the Public Works/Cemetery Department as a general laborer. In 1989 at the age of 29, he was asked to run for City Clerk.
