Trojan gets win over North Greene

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team finally broke their season opening winless streak with a 5 to 3 home win over the North Greene Spartans last Thursday. The streak had reached fourteen games with a 10 to 2 loss at Hardin Calhoun last Monday, leaving the Trojans with a 1-14 record on the season.

Tough loss to Bullets for Bluejay

The PORTA-AC Central baseball team won twice and lost twice last week, going 1-1 in conference games, including a tough loss to Williamsville. The Bluejays are now 13-8-1 overall and 2-3 in the Sangamo Conference on the year.

Junior High Tiger Track Action

The Beardstown Junior High School track team was in action just once last week, traveling to Williiamsville for the Junior High BeeBee Invite on Friday. The seventh-grade boys finished seventh out of ten teams, the eighth graders finished fifth, the seventh-grade girls finished in sixth place and the eighth graders finished in third place.

Lady Tigers top Saukees

The Beardstown Softball Team picked up two wins against one loss last week as Khloe Kearns tossed a couple of one-hitters against Pittsfield and West Prairie. Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers suffered their first conference loss, falling 7 to 3 to a very good Liberty squad.

Beardstown Council adopts new tax

The Beardstown City Council adopted the Municipal Grocery Retailers’ Occupation Tax and a Municipal Grocery Service Occupation Tax at its regular meetng April 11. This is the one percent grocery tax that the state of Illinois is set to eliminate effective January 1, 2026.

Accident simulation set for the 29th

By Michael Kloppenburg Ashland Fire Protection District Fire Chief Shane Hall reported to the board that the district firefighters will participate in a car accident simulation at A-C Central middle/high school in Ashland. The simulation is intended to warn students against drunk driving.
