Bluejay Track competes at Havana

Just like the baseball and softball teams, the PORTA-AC Central High School track team took full advantage of the only meet they had last week with the boys’ team winning a five-team meet and the girls taking second at Havana. On the boys side, Jophy Lin placed second in the 100 and fourth in the 200, Bryce Sonnemaker placed third in the 100, Noah Hardy won the 200, the 400 and the long jump, Caden Cave finished second in the 400 and third in the 1600, Kade Parker won the 800, Jaxen Feagans placed third in the 800, Christian Ellingson took fifth in the 800, Max King won the 1600, Dylan Woods was fourth in the 1600, Austin Hagloch finished fifth in the 1600, D.J.

Beardstown Tigers top Triopia Trojans

The Beardstown High School baseball team went 1-1 last week, with their victory coming over Cass County rival Triopia by a score of 9 to 5 last Tuesday at home. On Thursday, the Tigers fell to Quincy High School 8 to 3 at home in a game that was called after six innings due to rain.

Tiger Track wins Senior Night meet

The Beardstown Tiger Track teams celebrated senior night last Tuesday by winning first place in both the boys’ and girls’ meets with eight boys’ teams and seven girls teams’ competing. Last Friday the Tigers traveled to Williamsville for the Don Willaims invite and the boys placed second out of eight teams and the girls brought home third place out of nine teams.

Tracy pitches 13 innings in loss

It is hard to imagine that one of the best games you will ever pitch in your life could end in disappointment but that is exactly what happened last week to Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Junior Pitcher Mylee Tracy.

First Place for Virginia-Triopia Track

A good season for the Virginia-Triopia High School Track teams continued last week as the boys took first place at a three-team meet at Carrollton and the girls took first place at a five-team meet in Havana. The girls finished second at Carrollton and the boys placed second at Havana.

Bluejay Baseball, Softball both win

Limited to one game apiece last week, the PORTA-AC Central baseball and softball teams made the most of it, with both teams picking up a win. The boys finished a game with Riverton that was suspended a few weeks ago, getting a 2 to 0 win and the girls knocked off Rushville-Industry 8 to 5.

Two wins for Lady Tiger Soccer

The Beardstown Lady Tiger Soccer team picked up two wins last week to improve their season mark to 4-14-2 on the year. Beardstown knocked off Springfield Lutheran 6 to 0 and North Mac 5 to 2 while suffering losses to Pleasant Plains by the score of 10 to 0 and Springfield Southeast by an 8 to 0 count.

Tiger Junior High Track at Big 5 Meet

The Beardstown Junior High School track team competed at the Big 5 Conference meet last Monday at Rushville with the seventh-grade boys placing fourth, the eighth-grade boys placing second, the seventh girls getting third and the eighth-grade girls getting fourth out of six teams. Last Friday at a seven-team meet in Williamsville, the seventh-grade boys placed sixth, the eighth-grade boys placed second, the seventh-grade girls were third and the eighth-grade girls were fourth.

Trojans defeat Wolves

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team picked up their second win of the season with an 11 to 0 win at Pleasant Hill last Thursday. The Trojans lost at Jacksonville Routt 12 to 4 on Monday and at Beardstown 9 to 5 on Tuesday, giving them a 2-16 record on the year.

Virginia Redbird Junior High Track

The Virginia-Triopia Junior High Track teams competed in two meets last week, on Tuesday in a five-team meet at Pleasant Plains and on Saturday at the PORTA Junior High Invite featuring eight eighth grade teams and nine seventh grade teams. Individually at Plains, Drake Rhondes placed second in the 200 and fourth in the 100 and the high jump, Michael Breckenridge finished sixth in the 100, Corbin Beck placed second in the 800, the 1600, the 110 hurdles and fourth in the 400, Bentley Seymour finished second in the 400 and fourth in the 800, Jackson Crews was fourth in the 110 hurdles and the long jump, Riley Lovekamp placed fourth in the shotput, Mason Lomelino placed sixth in the discus, Kevin Hawk tied for fifth in the high jump, and Cooper Lane finished sixth in the long jump.
