The Beardstown High School girls’ track team will be sending two representatives to the IHSA State Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. The Lady Tigers traveled to Williamsville last Thursday for the Class 2A Sectional and by virtue of their performance there, junior Diana Huerta and sophomore Laetitia Kanda will both be headed back to state championship competition.
The PORTA-AC Central High School baseball team pushed their season record to 21-9-1 by going 3-1 last week. The Bluejays have one regular season game remaining, scheduled for Monday, May 19 against Havana.

Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia Junior Faith Wingert has qualified for the IHSA Class 1A Track and Field State Championship meet in the 100-meter dash. Wingert will be competing starting Thursday, May 22 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
The PORTA-AC Central High School softball team picked up two wins in three games last week to finish the regular season with a mark of 9-12. The Lady Bluejays crushed Hartsburg-Emden 19 to 0 and lost to Havana 7 to 2 at home, then defeated Delavan 15 to 2 on the road.
After two losses to start the week, the Beardstown High School baseball team rebounded to win their last game of the regular season to finish with a mark of 17-7. The Tigers lost 14 to 4 on the road at Illini West and 5 to 3 at Macomb before knocking off Lewistown-Valley-Cuba 8 to 5 at home.

Former Beardstown softball standout Marlee Brown is headed to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division Two World Series with the Illinois Central College softball team. The fourth-seeded Cougars (33-21) beat top-seed Mineral Area in back-to-back games to capture the Central District Tournament championship, making for the program’s first national tournament appearance since 2022.
