The Beardstown Little League 11/12-year-old baseball all-star team are the District 17 Champions, rolling to the title with an unbeaten, 3-0 record, winning all three games by double digits. Last Tuesday’s championship game against Pike County looked like it would come down to the wire until the local boys exploded for eleven runs in the top of the sixth inning to end all doubt and propel them to a 13 to 0 title game victory.
A tough opening game loss last Monday for the Beardstown 9/10-year-old baseball all-star team sent them into the losers’ bracket, giving them an uphill battle in their quest to match the 11/12-year-old all-stars with a District 17 title. Leading 3 to 1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Tigers saw Pike County score three runs to take a 4 to 3 lead, then turn an improbable double play to snuff out a would-be Beardstown rally in the top of the sixth.

The Beardstown 9/10-year-old softball all-star team won twice in district play but it was not enough to advance as losses to Tri-County and Rushville eliminated them from postseason play. Tri-County knocked off the Lady Tigers 10 to 3 in the opening round, then Beardstown bounced back to beat Brown County 16 to 1 and Pike County 12 to 3 before falling to Rushville 7 to 2.

July 12 Results

Three dominant wins highlighted by no-hit pitching have given the Tri-County 9/10-year-old softball all-star team a District 17 Championship and a trip to Clarendon Hills for the State Tournament. Tri-County beat Beardstown 10 to 3, then Rushville 17 to 2 and 10 to 0 to stamp their ticket to the big show, holding all three opponents hitless.
