Chandlerville Fire Department under fire at board meeting

At the October 8th Chandlerville Village Board meeting, Village President Dean Eilers questioned Fire Chief Corey Simpson why there were children under the age of 18 handling the water hoses at the Summer Bash fundraiser that was held in September.

BASA recognized at Cass board meeting

Cass County Board recognized the accomplishments of the Beardstown Area Special Athletes (BASA) Black Attack Softball team for winning the Special Olympics North American National Championship at its October 13 meeting. The games were held in Oklahoma City, OK, on September 18-21.

PORTA-AC Cross Country: Jr. High Punches Ticket to State; High School Shines in Conference

On a foggy day at the Rushville 2A Cross Country Sectional at Schy-Rush Park, both the PORTA-AC Central boys’ and girls’ junior high cross-country teams punched their ticket to the IESA State Finals Meet in Normal on Saturday, October 18. The girls finished second overall, with Charlize Chick taking first place overall and Ellie Goodman finishing tenth.
