Dorothy Newell was a woman who had a passion for reading, not only for reading, but for young children learning to read and reading to her. Her goal in life was to become a Kindergarten teacher but financial obligations did not allow this to happen. She returned to her love of education by volunteering in the kindergarten classes in Ashland Elementary and Our Savior’s Catholic School for approximately 15 years.
