Lady Tigers hold youth volleyball camp

A very successful youth volleyball camp was held last week by the new BHS volleyball coach Micah Guijosa and longtime assistant coach, Sue Hembrough. With the help of this season’s high school Lady Tigers, campers from third through eighth grade spent five days last week honing their volleyball skills.

Evan D. Zimmerman, 27, Beardstown, was ticketed and released for Criminal Trespassing as well as being picked up on a Cass County warrant for Criminal Trespass to a building on July 10. He was given a recognizance and new court date.

Two separate crashes result in two DUIs

A two-vehicle crash and a Honda moped crash resulted in two people being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on two separate days.

ISP partners with SIU/E on cold cases

A partnership between the Illinois State Police (ISP) and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is offering real world experience for the next generation of criminal justice students and aiding ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 6 special agents working to solve old homicide cases. “The Illinois State Police investigates hundreds of new cases each year, while also following up on cold cases from years past,” said ISP Director Brendan F.

Alderman will remain on Beardstown council

Even though he posted on social media last week that he was resigning from the Beardstown City Council, First Ward Alderman Eric Harbin has changed his mind and withdrawn his resignation. The resignation was effective August 1.
