Jacksonville Memorial Hospital will host two Community Blood Drives with Impact Life, the provider of blood components for local hospitals. The blood drives will be from 11:00 a.m.
A-C Central School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 20 at the Board Conference Room, Unit Office, 501 W. Buchanan Street, Ashland.

Although there is little doubt that he hated to see his Tri-County Thunder softball team’s two-year run of Senior Girls Little League Softball World Series Titles end, coach Tom Orr was happy for his opponent at the same time. That’s because his son, Zach, is the coach of the Michigan team that put the Thunder’s quest for a three-peat to an end.
A couple of tough luck losses has ended the postseason hopes of the Beardstown 9/10-year-old All Star team. After their opening round 4 to 3 loss to Pike County, the young Tigers walloped Rushville 13 to 1 before falling to Macomb 5 to 1 to end their season.

Even though it’s Monday and you won’t read this until Saturday or later, the heat for this week will be excruciating. Heat indexes for Tuesday (July 22-24) through Thursday is predicted to be 105-115 degrees! We will all melt! Even with air-conditioning, that’s HOT! That kind of humid heat is dangerous and unhealthy! Even for the critters that live in it, birds, frogs, bees, butterflies, squirrels, rabbits and the rest, that’s too hot for them.
