Hit and run was a false call

What appeared to be a hit and run ended up not being the case. Beardstown Police received a call 6:20 p.m. Sunday, May 5 of a female juvenile that had been allegedly struck by an unknown person on a motorcycle at 517 West 7th Street. The juvenile, who was 11 years old, gave police a description of the motorcycle.

Junior High Tigers host relay

The weather turned out beautifully last Wednesday for the annual Beardstown Junior High Tiger Relays. With seven teams making up a very competitive field, Beardstown finished in fourth place as a team in both the boys’ and girls’ contests.

The Kirsta Anderson Benefit will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 18th at the Round House Event Center in Beardstown. There is a small cover charge that includes a meal and kids’ activities.

Meet CJ Monroe – New Pastor at First Christian Church Beardstown

Pastor CJ Monroe and wife, Kirsten, have been married for 4.5 years now and we have two children,  three years  and 16 months old. He said he has been in full-time ministry for over 15 years now. 

He has served as a Youth Pastor in Lubbock, TX, Youth & College Pastor in Washington, D.C., and the Middle School Pastor in Jacksonville, IL before transferring to his new role as lead pastor in Beardstown.

An A-C Central High School senior was among 14 winners from throughout the state to receive an Illinois High School Activities Foundation (IHSAF) scholarship. This is the second class of recipients in the IHSAF Scholarship Program

Jayce Privia, A-C Central High School, is one of the winners who is among 14 seniors at IHSA member high schools and will receive a $1,000 scholarship towards their future education. To be eligible for the scholarship, the candidates must be seniors at IHSA schools who plan to:

Three straight wins for Trojans

After falling at home to the Havana Ducks in a close one to start the week, the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team reeled off three straight wins to improve to 9-14 on the year.  The Trojans beat North Greene and South Fulton on the road, then took down Rushville at home to finish the week in style.

Pretzels sneak by Lady Tigers

The Beardstown Lady Tigers lost twice last week, including a heartbreaker to New Berlin on Wednesday, when the Pretzels scored to win in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh.  On Tuesday, Beardstown fell by the ten-run rule to Augusta Southeastern.
