Due to family concerns, head coach Eric Anderson recently made the tough but necessary decision to step down from the position. Anderson spent the past nine years as the top cat for the Tigers posting a 123-133 record including a very fine 22-10 season last year.
An exciting opening round win by the Beardstown 11/12-Year-Old All Star Softball team over Pike County on Monday, June 24, sent them to the winner’s bracket. They were set to face off against host Rushville at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25.
Summer Hoops. Lucie Dion pursues a tipped ball near the sideline. | Letting fly with a three pointer! | Addison Rohn just gets the jumper off for Triopia. | “Throw it to me!”
Leah is about three years old. She loves to find a cozy spot in her room and would make a great addition to your couch! She is a very sweet girl who loves attention but most likely won’t beg for it. She has beautiful eyes that are light brown with dark brown spots in them. This beautiful girl, along with all other animals at SCHS will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before adoption. You can meet Leah and all pets at Schuyler County Humane Society, 17000 County Farm Road in Rushville. Visitor hours are Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon, and Sundays from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. You can also make an appointment by calling (217) 322-2220. Applications are available online at https://schuylerhs.com/adopt/application/.
Emily Lin, a university student from the University of Mississippi, is helping families this summer with their at-home learning. Her hometown being in Mississippi, she’s participating in a long-standing sales and leadership program that finds her talking to thousands of families and learning the ins and outs of running a business in Cass County. She is living in Springfield with a local family who is hosting her for the summer.
June 25th would have been my 58th wedding anniversary. It’s not really a sad day for me because the 25 years I had Chuck were wonderful with lots of laughs and precious memories.
On June 25, 1966, it was every bit as hot then as it was this year. The heat and humidity were horrendous and the worse part; there was no air-conditioning. We were married at my home as I was still living with my parents.
The Book of Judges is a Christian favorite. From Ehud slaying the fat man Eglon to Gideon selecting the 300 weirdos who lap water like dogs as his army to Samson slinging jawbones, Judges provides a host of wild and fantastical stories. From laughter to fascination to frustration, this book offers so many unique details that stick in our minds from a young age. Who doesn’t love Jael pounding a tent peg through Sisera’s skull?
