Bits & Pieces – Celebrating many years in the newspaper business

Happy Birthday to Beardstown’s one and only newspaper! This week’s edition is number 180! That’s 180 years. The Beardstown Softball 11/12-year-old All Stars are one of four teams left with a shot at winning the Illinois State Championship. A 3-1 record in pool play gave the Tigers the right to advance to tourney play where they will definitely have a punchers’ chance. But so will the other three squads as the State Title will be decided in a one day, four-team, three-game, single elimination extravaganza on Wednesday, July 10.
